The hand-painted lid, the honest base. The lid is hand-painted in the design you choose. The base is left as clean terracotta — the way tagines have been made for generations, and the reason this one costs less.
No glaze — just bare, natural clay. The lead found in some imported cookware comes from glazes. There isn't one here, and no toxic paints or dyes either.
Thrown and hand-painted in Nabeul, Tunisia by local women earning a fair wage. No two are identical.
