Painted all the way down. Most tagines are decorated only on the lid. Ours is painted on the base as well — so when the lid comes off at the table, the design is still there, framing the food for the rest of the meal.
Unglazed clay. The base is fired clay, left bare — nothing coating the surface your food touches.
Thrown and hand-painted in Nabeul, Tunisia by local women earning a fair wage. No two are identical.
